Dead BeeTradigital NFT Artwork By Edward A. Burke

"Dead Bee," Tradigital NFT Artwork, speaks to Colony Collapse Disorder and the dying off of the bee population worldwide. These creations and other traditional art and exhibits stem from my investigation of how rising CO2 levels contribute to the die-off of bees. Researchers found that rising levels of CO2 in the atmosphere from manufacturing have caused a dramatic reduction of protein in pollen. The lack of protein in this vital food source for honey bees has reduced their reproduction ability significantly. This reduction in bees will considerably impact food resources; bees help provide approximately 60% of man's agricultural foods.

This artwork, titled "Cause & Effect," aims to convey the impact of humans on the biosphere. The human figure in the foreground is the centerpiece of the artwork, and his mind is releasing toxins into the atmosphere. The cube in place of his skull represents his understanding of how crucial the planet's resources and atmosphere are to his existence. The artwork highlights the impact of humans on the environment and reminds us of the need to be mindful of our actions.

Suspended above the human figure are cubes representing manufactured objects harming the planet. The symbolic life forms in these cubes represent the destruction caused by manufacturing. The unnatural colors of the sky and human skeleton provide a narrative of the biosphere and the impact of human actions on it. I trust artwork offers a thought-provoking commentary on the state of our planet and the consequences of our actions.

An observer of the work pointed out the whimsical approach used by the artist to communicate such a severe problem. After hearing this, I agreed and noticed the similarities with René Magritte's "Son of Man." The artwork's presentation makes one smile, knowing that we are all part of the history of art. It reminds us of the power of art to convey crucial messages and provoke thought about the world around us.

"I recently created a painting called 'Dream - No Way Home', inspired by a recurring dream I have had for a long time. In this dream, I always find myself lost in a dark, ominous urban area, struggling to find my way home in the confusing maze of alleyways and buildings. It's a very unsettling feeling, and the dream always fills me with anxiety and despair. But by creating this painting, I could finally communicate this component of my life and find my voice."

As an artist, I sometimes begin a project with a specific idea in mind, while other times, the true meaning or purpose only becomes clear to me during the creative process. This was the case with my artwork titled "Falling Sky." The painting was inspired by a profound sense of loss, expressed through simple yet striking visual elements and their arrangement. The composition of this piece is compelling, and it communicates my emotions in a way that those who know me well will readily understand. However, I also hope those unfamiliar with my personal experiences will view the work as a mystery and be moved by it in their unique way.

"Storm Warning AM & PM" is a series of Tradigital NFT paintings that reflect the impact of humans' ever-growing contribution to global warming. The artworks depict the increased quantity and severity of storms and weather conditions caused by climate change.

While there may not be a consensus on humans' impact on global warming, research shows that approximately 6.5 metric tons of CO2 are released into the atmosphere each year through burning fuels and manufacturing goods. Human consumption is a significant contributor to the problem, with eWaste (Electronic Waste) alone accounting for a staggering 53.5 million metric tons of discarded electronic products, such as refrigerators, TVs, appliances, cell phones, washers, dryers, and computers, in 2019.
